Ray Foxx feat. Rachel K Collier – Boom Boom (Heartbeat) (Official Video)

Rachel K Collier is an Artist and Producer from Swansea, Wales. Growing up singing, writing songs and looping with an old double deck tape player using her vocals and a keyboard from the age of 12, she moved on to develop a serious interest in song arrangement and production, inventive vocal recording techniques and beat programming. A grade 8 pianist with a distinctive voice and innovative output, she studied Creative Music Technology (BMus) at the Royal Welsh college of Music & Drama. During her four years at the College Rachel’s career as an electronic producer began to take shape, gaining competence with a selection of DAW’s and hardware, she also delved into more advanced sound design, foley, music for film, Pure Data/ MaxMSP installations and contemporary electronic music production technique.

Following her move to London in 2010, Rachel‘s arrangement of the Jimmy Cliff classic, Hard Road To Travel, for a Saatchi televised advertising campaign charted at number 79 in the UK Singles Chart. She then went on to co-write and feature on UK Chart hit “Boom Boom (Heartbeat)”, Wookie’s “2 Us” and the single “Only For You” taken from Mat Zo’s Grammy-nominated album “Damage Control”.

Rachel demonstrated her own talents as a solo electronic producer and performer with the release of her debut self-produced EP “Words You Never Heard” (Mixmag “8/10”) in October 2015 on independent electronic label Love & Other.  She has since signed a distribution with Kobalt for own her record label NIF Records, releasing her first single “Ships” on the label in September 2016, supported by a live electronic performance at Bestival.  As well a further releases of her own, Rachel hopes in time to use her Label as a platform to showcase up and coming electronic female producers in the UK.

An Audience with Phill Brown & Tony Platt – MPG Seminar

Among the highlights of this year’s show will be a very special appearance by two legendary UK producers. Between them Tony Platt and Phill Brown have worked with everyone from AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley to Soweto Kinch, Bombay Bicycle Club and Maxi Jazz – and MPX presents a rare opportunity to see the pair in conversation.

Covering topics including working with rock legends to modern production techniques, “An Audience With Tony Platt and Phill Brown” promises to be a must-see at MPX.

ROLI will be presenting the (launched this week) BLOCKS & NOISE along with RISE

BLOCKS is powered by NOISE, a music-making app that doubles as the software synthesizer and sound engine for the BLOCKS system. Everything works wirelessly, so anyone with an iPhone or iPad chooses their sound on NOISE and plays it on a Lightpad Block. This means that all of your software is on a conveniently portable device — as if it’s another Block in the system.

Seminar is Friday at 13.00
